Weaving a better future

We respect the beauty of the world. This is why we participate in the Higg Index program, which measures the sustainability of the textile industry, we are partners with BCI for more ethical cotton production, and we are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified to protect consumer health.

Weaving the future, respecting the earth

Being a Higg partner means promoting greater transparency, adopting sustainable practices, and ensuring efficiency. With this in mind, we are working to reduce carbon emissions, minimize water usage, and textile waste. Our goal is to create a virtuous cycle that recovers and regenerates fibers, producing textile material useful for our product packaging. We use eco-friendly materials, prioritizing European linen, which requires neither irrigation nor fertilizers and is therefore inherently a sustainable fiber. We are proud to be part of the BCI, Better Cotton Initiative, a global network working to make cotton production increasingly sustainable and ethical. Those who choose our products make a choice for well-being, not only for the planet but also for themselves: our textiles are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, a very strict control system that verifies the absence of toxic substances and protects consumer health.

Our choices

Sustainable Textile Materials

We use eco-friendly materials because we believe this is the first step towards sustainability. And for your well-being.

Flax

Linen is eco-sustainable by nature. It does not require water for irrigation or fertilizers. Tessitura Toscana Telerie uses only European Linen, considered the best in the world due to its climatic conditions, soil availability, and the know-how of growers and the entire production chain. Linen is the textile fiber with the most qualities: it is durable, cool, light, elegant, retains its shape, absorbs moisture, is thermoregulating, and has high absorbency.

Hemp

It is a nature-friendly fiber because the hemp plant does not need pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. It grows without irrigation and has an excellent yield of extracted fibers per hectare of cultivated land, leaving the soil in excellent condition for any subsequent crop. We choose it for its low environmental impact and the beauty of its fiber, which is comfortable and durable.

Cotton

It is the most common textile fiber in the world. Tessitura Toscana Telerie has always selected only the noble qualities of long-staple cotton, which is strong and naturally shiny. A long and extremely fine fiber guarantees excellent elasticity and very high resistance. We choose the best cotton suppliers and ensure they are socially responsible. We have a department dedicated to checking both product quality and respect for working conditions.

OEKO-TEX® Textile Certification

Tessitura Toscana Telerie is proud to create products designed to ensure consumer health. Thanks to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, all items marked with this label are tested to prevent adverse reactions due to toxic substances present in the fabrics.

Better Cotton Initiative

We are supporters of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), a global network that aims to make cotton production more sustainable, ethical, and profitable for all parties involved. We are personally committed to integrating sustainable cotton into the global supply chain. We want to ensure that cotton is produced according to strict BCI standards and we collaborate in the certification of farms, textile producers, and retailers.

Higg Index

The Higg Index is a suite of standardized tools developed to measure and improve environmental and social sustainability along the textile industry supply chain, from materials to production processes and resource management. Being a Higg partner means actively committing to sustainability through the adoption of measurement tools and the promotion of sustainable practices, fostering greater transparency and accountability throughout the entire supply chain.

We have energy to spare

Our company has a low environmental impact. We produce certified energy through a solar panel system covering an area of 1500 sqm. In one year, we generate enough renewable energy to cover half of our annual energy needs. On days of peak performance, our systems produce 47 kW/h, and unused energy is fed back into the grid as renewable energy. Our lighting system consists exclusively of LED lights with an A+ energy rating. In less than ten years, we have halved our annual energy consumption.

Our Choices

Social sustainability

We attach great importance to social as well as environmental responsibility. For a long time, we have supported a project in collaboration with a non-profit cooperative that focuses on integrating vulnerable individuals into the workforce.

Solidarity is in our fiber

Our textiles are not only beautiful, they also have good fibers. We pursue the idea of work as a tool for growth and development. We have created special collections to support the Altremani project promoted by Coop Convoi Onlus, a non-profit cooperative that provides employment to people in vulnerable conditions. For over ten years, we have chosen Convoi laundry as our partner, a social cooperative that employs the most disadvantaged people and contributes to the well-being of the community.
