Care of pure linen tablecloths and bedding
Our linen is a natural fiber of ancient origin, resistant over the years, spun with ancient and environmentally friendly techniques, without the use of sizing or gluing agents.
Precisely for this reason, printed items may have small fiber clumps where the print color is different or missing. This is absolutely not a defect but rather a characteristic of this wonderful natural fiber and proof that it has been treated with sustainable production cycles.
Washing linen items is very simple; by following a few rules, you will be sure to maintain the colors of the decorations and improve the fabric's softness and sheen with each wash.
Stains on printed tablecloths must be treated without the use of bleach and whiteners.
Our advice:
Washing
Machine wash at 40°C using delicate detergents for colored garments, preferably liquid. Never use bleach, chlorine-based whiteners, or optical brighteners. The same 40°C cycle will give an even better result if you have a washing machine with a steam cycle.
Spin cycle
This step, along with tumble drying, is the main cause of fabric aging.
Always use a light spin cycle not exceeding 400 rpm if possible. If you have time, omitting the spin cycle prevents creases and makes your garment much easier to iron.
Drying
The ideal way would be to air dry linen garments, the old-fashioned way. If you use a tumble dryer, use a low-temperature cycle and never over-dry the garment, removing it when it is still slightly damp. A trick that will make subsequent ironing even easier is to add 2/3 ice cubes to the tumble dryer at the beginning of the operation.
Ironing
If you have followed the previous instructions, ironing is almost a formality; simply dampen overly dry garments with a spray bottle and briefly iron with a steam iron at a medium-high temperature.
Heavy or stubborn stains
It is not uncommon for tablecloths to have stubborn stains (wine, coffee, tomato, sauces) after use. To ensure the removal of such stubborn stains, we recommend using liquid oxygen-based detergents for colored fabrics. Simply apply these detergents undiluted to the stains in a basin, rubbing lightly. Afterwards, especially if there are other smaller stains on the garment, add the recommended dose of the oxygen-based detergent to the normal liquid detergent you use for the washing machine cycle, pouring it directly into the drum before starting the wash cycle.
Care of pure cotton or cotton/linen blend tablecloths and bedding
Cotton is a versatile fabric and, not having a "woody" fiber like linen and hemp, it is even easier to maintain. Follow all instructions valid for pure linen products (you can even mix colored linen and cotton items in your laundry). In the case of cotton, the negative effects of harsh spinning and drying processes are less detrimental. However, if you want to keep your garments longer and have less difficulty with ironing, we recommend following the exact same washing process as for pure linen products.
As a final tip, if you have a steam washing machine with a refresh cycle, know that performing this cycle at the end of the washing process will simplify ironing even further. You were surely already aware of the precautions we have listed. However, if you have never adopted them, we strongly recommend that you try them and see how small actions that will become part of your daily routine will help you better maintain not only our products but all your laundry!
